Behave 2025

BEHAVE 2025 is the 8th edition of the biannual European Energy Network event focusing on the application of behavioural insights in energy efficiency and climate mitigation. This year's edition is organised by ADEME, French Agency for Ecological Transition, on 11-12 December 2025 in Paris, France.

Information for authors

Thank you for your contribution to the Behave 2025 call for extended abstracts. You may download the Conference Proceedings that include extended abstracts selected for presentation at the conference, either in a parallel session, or via posters, on the EnR website via this link.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY Call for Papers

Special Issue on

“From Energy Efficiency to Sufficiency: Behavioural Pathways toward a Just Transition to Carbon Neutrality”

Congratulations on the acceptance of your research presentation at the Behave 2025 conference. We are pleased to announce that the journal “Energy Efficiency”  (https://www.springer.com/journal/12053) has agreed to host a special issue on the theme “From Energy Efficiency to Sufficiency: Behavioural Pathways Toward a Just Transition to Carbon Neutrality”.

Researchers presenting at the Behave 2025 conference are invited to contribute to this Special Issue.

Contributions are expected to cover a diverse array of topics related to new approaches, policies, and methods to encourage behaviour change for energy and carbon reduction, including but not limited to:

  • Behaviour change and social practices in energy and environment, including instruments and interventions, multidisciplinary approaches, organisational behaviour solutions, economic assessments, and the scalability, longevity and spillover effects of policy experiments;
  • Just and inclusive transition, addressing stakeholder ownership, energy poverty, vulnerable consumers, public participation in policymaking, civil society initiatives, and community engagement;
  • Acceptability and ownership of public policies and low-carbon solutions, including technologies, norms, standards and strategies influencing decarbonisation decisions in industry and business;
  • Sufficiency in the ecological transition, focusing on enabling infrastructures, social and collective practices, sufficiency-oriented design and production, and public instruments supporting sufficiency at different territorial scales;
  • Foresight and scenarios for carbon neutrality, including their influence on decision-making and public action, and the development of positive narratives and imaginaries of transition and sufficiency.

We welcome manuscripts presenting high quality research, with original quantitative and qualitative data analysis, laboratory, online and field experiments, meta-analyses, and other theoretical or practical contributions that generate relevant energy policy insights and recommendations.

Please comply with the journal submission guidelines (available at https://www.springer.com/journal/12053/submission-guidelines) and submit your full manuscript online using the link https://www.springer.com/journal/12053 and following the instructions below:
